Police are appealing for information today after thieves broke into a home in Clacton and rifled through a memorial to the owner’s son.
The incident happened during the early hours on Tuesday in Nayland Road, when thieves gained entry by breaking the front door of the property.
The items stolen belonged to Neil Kirby, who died after a motorcycle accident about 10 years ago.
Neil’s mum, Tracy, set up a memorial to her son in the corner of her living room which included the urn containing his ashes – the memorial was ransacked and Neil’s watch and engagement ring were stolen.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “This has caused great distress to Miss Kirby and police would appeal for the public’s help in tracing this despicable offenders and reuniting Miss Kirby with these precious and priceless items.”
