Clarets announce pre-season opposition

CHELMSFORD City’s pre-season friendly line-up is beginning to take shape after four more dates were added against teams from Essex and Suffolk, with the likelihood of further fixtures against Football League opposition to be added in due course.

CHELMSFORD City’s pre-season friendly line-up is beginning to take shape after four more dates were added against teams from Essex and Suffolk, with the likelihood of further fixtures against Football League opposition to be added in due course.

The Clarets will kick-off with a trip to Ridgeons Eastern Counties League outfit Hadleigh United on Saturday 3rd July at Tinkers Lane while a further away game against Ryman League neighbours Maldon & Tiptree, formerly known as Maldon Town, is booked for Tuesday 20th. These precede the already advertised match-up against Bradford City.

Traditional practice games against Heybridge Swifts (Tuesday 3rd August) and Glenn Pennyfather’s former side Canvey Island (Saturday 7th August) will follow, while conversations are still ongoing with a number of npower Football League clubs in order to provide additional attractive home challenges to the growing schedule.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 4th July, a City Legends squad will take on Arsenal’s Celebrity Team at Melbourne with fun for all the family before a 3:00pm kick off. Monies raised will be in aid of The Prince’s Trust, who will be running their “GetIntoFootball” programme at Melbourne soon. Tickets are �7 for adults, �1 for kids and only �15 for a family of four, with refreshments also on sale to accompany the entertainment.
