CLASSIC cars ranging from a 1939 Bentley to a German Army staff car will be up for sale at a rare auction.

CLASSIC cars ranging from a 1939 Bentley to a German Army staff car will be up for sale at a rare auction.

About 75 cars have been gathering dust for decades in a Suffolk barn but the collector has decided now is the time to put them under the hammer.

Among the impressive collection are Fords, Vauxhalls, Austins, Rovers and Rolls Royces dating from the 1940s.

While some could still be driven away today, auctioneers said most represented an opportunity for restoration projects.

The unusual sale will be held at Eriswell Hall Barns Auction, in Lakenheath, and significant interest among car enthusiasts is predicted.

Auction house director Mark Almond said: β€œA gentleman approached us who had been collecting classic cars for years and years.

β€œHe rented a barn near us and we did not realise that just 500 yards away, there were all these classic cars. There are some amazing machines.”

The auction will take place on June 29 with previews held on the previous two days.
