The coastguard helicopter had been scrambled after a crew member of a boat off the coast at Lowestoft was struck down with appendicitis.
A spokesman for Humber Coastguard said they were contacted just after 5.40am today (Saturday, October 13) by the crew of a boat which is currently about four miles south east of Lowestoft.
They said a man, who is believed to be 47, was suffering from appendicitis.
The spokesman said a helicopter was scrambled and will be taking the casualty to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston for further care.
