THAMES Coastguard had to help two water sports enthusiasts who got into difficulty off the Suffolk coast this weekend.
A kite surfer had to be rescued when he became separated from his kite at Sizewell at around 12.25pm yesterday.
The Aldeburgh inshore lifeboat was diverted from exercise to help but the surfer managed to make the shore unaided.
The lifeboat was unable to retrieve the kite at the time but a local fisherman found it later.
At around 12.30pm they received a 999 call reporting a windsurfer waving for assistance off Felixstowe.
The Harwich inshore lifeboat rendezvoused with the casualty just as he was making the shore, where they were met by Felixstowe Coastguard.
The incident was caused by a broken boom on the sail.
