THE Arts Council has awarded £499,999 to Firstsite for the development of a new creative business hub in Queen Street.
The funding will focus on helping regenerate 37 Queen Street, a Grade II listed building in Colchester, creating work and studio spaces for established creative enterprises, artists and start-ups, as well as encouraging collaborative projects.
Wayne Warner, Commercial Director at Firstsite said: “Today’s funding announcement will not only bring new employment opportunities to the area through the development of the building, but also develop the right environment for the emergence and expansion of new creative businesses.
“These businesses can then work together and develop an even bigger economic contribution to Colchester and the East of England.”
