BURGLARS have stolen six war medals from an Army Captain’s house in Colchester.

The break-in happened on Monday lunchtime when thieves broke-in to a property in Mario Way. They took Afghanistan, Bosnian and Sierra Leone service medals, an MVO medal in recognition of service to the Royal family, a Queen’s Jubilee medal and one for long service.

Investigating Officer, Dc Hannah Richardson, said: “As well as looking to speak with anyone who saw any suspicious people or unusually-placed vehicles in the area at the time, we are keen to hear from any shops dealing with gold or specialist army stores should they be offered these items.”

The picture shows miniature replicas of those stolen. They will be engraved around the edge with the name Umesh Kumar and service number 21162984.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at Colchester police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
