St Helena Hospice has launched a new fundraising event, which promises to test the endurance of participants.
Called SANDMAN, the event has been billed as a “hardcore” five-mile assault course on East Mersea beach taking in fitness and stamina tests, as well as man-made and natural obstacles.
The challenge is taking place on Saturday March 1 at Essex Outdoors, East Mersea, and includes an optional sea swim for the bravest of those taking part.
Sophie Harvey, event manager at the hospice, said: “SANDMAN is about endurance and teamwork. We’re looking to attract the adventurers, the fundraisers, the fitness fanatics, the team builders, the dare devils and the fun seekers. Yes, it’s a great way to raise money for the hospice but it’s also a brilliant test of endurance, determination, strength and stamina.”
Registration is £25 and those taking part must raise a minimum of £25 through sponsorship for the hospice. Visit www.sthelenahospice.org.uk/sandman14 for details.
