Police have warned households to lock their windows and doors while away for Christmas after cash was stolen from a property in Colchester.

The money was taken from a house in St Jude Close between 3pm and 6.50pm on Monday, December 2.

Dc Hannah Richardson said: “I would urge people to keep their windows and doors locked to help prevent burglars from gaining entry, particularly over Christmas if your home is likely to be left empty while you’re visiting friends and family.

“I’d also suggest you use an internal timer for your lights to disguise the fact that your home is empty.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Dc Richardson, or her colleagues at Colchester CID, on 101 .
