Firefighters have tackled a blaze at an army barracks in Colchester.

Three fire crews battled the flames in a residential area of the army barracks building in Circular Road, Colchester, at around 1.40pm today.

It was put out by 2.20pm.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire in an army barracks in Colchester this afternoon.

“Wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet, crews had extinguished the fire – which was in a residential area of the building – by 2.18pm.”
