AN INDIAN-themed giant giraffe is standing tall in a Stanway superstore.

Sainsbury’s has given its support to Colchester Zoo’s 50th birthday celebrations by sponsoring one of 25 giraffe Stand Tall sculptures, to go on show in the town in summer.

The creation, named Sarasvati, is designed by Anne Schwegmann-Fielding and is made from crockery, mirrors, coins and jewels.

Colchester Zoo director Anthony Tropeano said: “Anne’s design is wonderful and we’re sure it will provide a talking point for locals and visitors when it goes on display in June.”
