Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary at a house in Colchester.

Attempts were made to force open the back door of a property in Drury Road sometime between 8am and 5.15pm yesterday.

Garden tools including a small screwdriver, large garden sheers and a long handled small fork were left by the door. They do not belong to the homeowner so officers believe they may have been left there by the suspects.

Dc Hannah Richardson of Colchester CID said: “I would urge any residents in the nearby area to check their sheds or garages to see if any of their garden tools have been stolen.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Dc Richardson on Essex Police 101.
