Superheroes flew down 40ft slides and dodged through inflatable tunnels to raise awareness of young people with cancer.
Hundreds of people heard the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation’s call and dressed up as their favourite caped crusader to take on Kapow! in Colchester’s Lower Castle Park.
Nikki Bowdidge, chief executive and founder, said there were lots of excellent costumes from Deadpool, Wonder Woman, Batman and the Incredibles on the family-fun day.
She said: “I couldn’t believe how much effort people had put into their costumes. They all looked fantastic.
“Tom loved superheroes and we know he was with us on the day and wondering once again what we had got ourselves into.
“The thing which really made the day for me was just seeing all the people’s faces light up on the obstacles.”
Families and businesses put in their own teams to take part on the day, with 300 people taking on the 5km course on Sunday, September 2.
It was the first time the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation has brought Kapow! to Colchester.
It is estimated participants raised £6,000 for the Foundation by taking part in Kapow!
