Colchester: Man rescued after he tried to save his dog

A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after he got into difficulty at Hythe Quay in Colchester while trying to save his dog.

Thames Coastguard was informed about the man, who had gone into mud in the area, at about 4pm yesterday.

Walton and Mersea Coastguard teams were mobilised along with Essex firefighters.

A Thames Coastguard spokesman said: “The male was recovered by the fire brigade before the Coastguard units arrived on scene.”
