The family of Colchester murder victim James Attfield have today appealed for information into his death.

“If you did this, hand yourself in, give yourself up,” said Julie Finch, as she made an emotional appeal for information this afternoon.

She asked anyone with information, however silly they might think it was, to come forward.

Ms Finch said Mr Attfield loved karaoke and his favourite band was The Script.

Mr Attfield’s body was found in Colchester’s Lower Castle Park in the early hours of Saturday morning with 102 stab wounds.

Efforts by paramedics to revive him failed and detectives have launched a murder inquiry.

At a press conference at Essex Police headquarters in Chelmsford today, Mr Attfield’s mother Julie Finch made an emotional plea to the public.

She asked for anyone with information about the crime or her son’s last movements to call police.

Marine officers have today been searching the nearby river and lake in a bid to find the murder weapon,thought to be knife.
