Colchester: Murder of Nahid Almanea to feature on BBC Crimewatch

The 31-year-old died as a result of stab wounds on June 17. She was found on the Salary Brook Trail in Colchester at around 10.40am that day.

The Saudi Arabian national was studying English at the University of Essex and lived in nearby Woodrow Way.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Morris, of Essex Police, will appear on the programme, which is due to be broadcast at 9pm on BBC1.

She will be outlining some of the appeals for information about people who may have been on or near the Salary Brook Trail on the morning of Ms Almanea’s murder.

Detective Superintendent Steve Worron, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “I would like to thank the local community for their support with our investigation.

“Featuring the appeals on Crimewatch will really help us to capture information from people who may not have seen some of the local media reports.

“They may not be Colchester residents but may have been visiting the area for work or social reasons on the day Nahid was murdered. Any information they have could really help us as we continue with our investigations.

Ms Almanea’s murder followed the murder of James Attfield, who was murdered in Lower Castle Park in Colchester in March.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating both cases. These investigations are being run separately but parallel with each other.

Independent charity Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the person or people responsible for the death of both Ms Almanea and Mr Attfield.
