Police are appealing for two women to get in touch after they helped a man after he was robbed in the Hillyfields area of Colchester on Wednesday, March 19.

The man was walking in the parkland, close to Lexden Road, when he was approached by two men at around 2.40pm. He was pushed to the floor and then punched and kicked before his wallet and iPhone 5C were stolen.

Dc Claire Jennings, who is investigating the offence, said: “The victim approached a young woman for help moments after the robbery and she may have seen the suspects.

“Another woman also came to the victim’s aid and offered him her mobile phone to call police. I am keen to speak to these women and would also like to hear from any other people who were in the area at the time. This is an area that is popular with dog walkers and joggers so I am hopeful that someone may have seen something or the suspects in the area.”

Both of the robbers were white, one was around 6ft tall, slim, thin faced and wearing dark clothing with shortish dark hair. The other was 5ft 8in tall, of slim to medium build. He had brown hair and was wearing a light coloured top.

Anyone with information can call Dc Jennings at Colchester Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
