Colchester: Police divers search for murder weapon

POLICE divers spent today searching the River Colne in Colchester for a murder weapon.

They combed a stretch of the river near the Middle Mill Weir in Castle Park looking for a weapon in connection with the murder of Thomas Brittain, which took place nearby on March 9.

The diving team from Essex was supported by divers from Sussex Police.

A spokesman said the officers would be returning tomorrow to complete their search of the area.

Detectives have charged Andre Vella, 19, from Village Close, Kirby Cross with the murder of Mr Brittain and have a made appeals for the whereabouts of Jack Hummerstone, 18, from central London, who is wanted for questioning in connection with the incident.
