Steven Quinton, 45, of no fixed address has been charged with burglary and possession of drugs following the incident in July.
Quinton, is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday October 10.
A police spokesman said: “We arrested a man on Friday September 7, in connection with the theft of items on display at Osbornes Jewellers in Eld Lane between 2pm on Sunday July 29, and 11.30pm on Monday July 30.”
