FIREFIGHTERS were called to an Essex superstore after its sprinkler system flooded the premises.

Three Essex Fire and Rescue Service appliances were scrambled to Sainsbury’s in Western Approach, Colchester, after the alarm was raised at 5.45pm yesterday.

Crew worked to isolate the sprinkler system which had caused “extensive flooding” and carry out salvage operations in the store.
