TWO men have appeared in court accused of a drive-by shooting outside a Colchester nightclub.

Michael Cooper and Dean Edwards are charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life after bullets were fired at the entrance to TP’s sports bar in Queen Street last September. Both men deny the charge.

Today the prosecution laid out its case before a jury at Chelmsford Crown Court and claimed the men drove past the bar five times and fired shots on three separate occasions. One image showed a bouncer flinching as a bullet flew past.

Edwards, 39, from Braintree, has pleaded guilty to a second charge of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Cooper, 40, has pleaded not guilty.

Edwards has pleaded guilty to a third charge of possessing a firearm when prohibited to do so following a prison sentence.

The trial is set to continue until next Tuesday.
