Police were called at around 11.15am today by a member of the public who had found the body in the water near Tinkers Lane.
Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Colchester where a car was stolen from the driveway.
A house in Wesley Avenue was broken into between noon and 3pm on May 21. A red Vauxhall Corsa was stolen from the driveway after the keys were found inside the property.
The car was found damaged the following day in St Andrews Avenue and was recovered by police.
