A 21-year-old man was grabbed around the neck during a street robbery in which he had cash and his mobile phone stolen.
The incident happened in Greenstead Road, Colchester, at about 5.30pm yesterday.
The man, who is from Colchester, was in the road when he was approached by two men who grabbed him around the neck – they then took his phone and money and left in a silver Ford Fiesta.
Detective Constable Tim Harris, of Colchester CID, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may be able to help us with this inquiry.
“We would especially like to find some people in a light blue car that was in the road at the time and who might be able to help us with information.”
The victim didn’t require hospital treatment.
