Transport police are preparing a file for the coroner following the death of a person struck by a train in Essex yesterday.
Emergency services including Essex Police, British Transport Police and the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust were sent to the scene of a collision in Kelvedon at around 5.30pm.
Greater Anglia suspended all services on the line and arranged for replacement buses to operate between Witham and Marks Tey for most of the evening.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said today: “Officers attended alongside paramedics. Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.
Police remained at the scene for several hours carrying out investigation work. A cordon was put in place while enquiries were made.
The person’s identity had not been made public.
