HUNDREDS of motorists were caught up in traffic misery after two incidents on the A14 lead to massive tailbacks.
Police first warned motorists to expect delays on the A14 westbound following a single vehicle crash this morning.
Officers from Suffolk and Cambridgeshire were called to scene near the junction with the A11 shortly after 11am.
One car was reported to have flipped onto its roof and there was debris across the carriageways but the driver escaped serious injury and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A police spokeswoman said they reopened the road before midday just before they were called to a second incident eastbound.
In a separate incident a motorist received a stern warning from police after attempting to join the A14 going eastbound but travelling the opposite direction.
Luckily they were met by an HGV travelling up the slip road into Histon averting potential disaster. Police set up a rolling roadblock until the incident was resolved at 12.30pm.
