A POTENTIAL disaster was averted at a petrol filling station when flames started coming out of a car’s engine.
Firefighters swiftly dealt with the incident at an Esso garage in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday evening - preventing the fire from reacting to nearby fuel.
Flames began shooting out of a car at the Tollgate Lane filling station at just after 6.15pm.
Two crews from Bury St Edmunds Fire Station used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, which was described as small.
They made the scene safe before leaving the garage at 6.27pm.
