FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a blaze at a caravan park involving a dangerous propane cylinder.

The fire started at a site in Abbotts Hall Farm in Horsley Cross at about 1.15am and two crews from nearby Manningtree were sent to the scene.

By 1.40am crews had surrounded the fire, which had started inside a caravan and was complicated by the presence of the propane cylinder.

A safety zone was set up around the burning caravan and efforts were made to cool down the cylinder. By 2.25am the flames were out and crews remained on site damping down the area for another 20 minutes.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the incident will be carried out.
