EIGHT fire crews battled a blaze which engulfed the thatched roof of a historic Suffolk cottage.
Firefighters from across Suffolk were called to the blaze at the two-storey Hay Barn, in Flatford Lane, East Bergholt, at 6.18pm today.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said that 50 per cent of the property’s roof was well alight and that eight pumps were on scene.
The incident was brought under control by 8.30pm.
