Fire fighters have been called to a fire at a derelict building close to the railway station in Bury St Edmunds.

Emergency services were called today at around 2.25pm to the fire in Station Hill.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said crews arrived to find a ‘small fire in a derelict building’.

Three fire crews, two from Bury St Edmunds and one from Elmswell, were sent to the scene as it was initially believed there were people in the building.

The fire was extinguished and a stop called by firefighters at around 3.55pm.

Police were also called to assist at the scene.
