Former Australia captain and broadcaster Richie Benaud has died at the age of 84, long-time employer Channel 9 has announced.
Benaud played in 63 Tests, 28 as captain, as a leg spinner before retiring in 1964 to pursue a career in broadcasting and journalism.
His last commentary in England was during the Ashes series of 2005 but he continued to work for Channel 9 until two years ago.
He revealed last year that he was receiving treatment for skin cancer.
