A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after three cars collided in Ipswich.

The incident happened shortly after 7.10am on Monday between Riverside Road and Bramford Road, Suffolk police said.

Officers arrived to discover three cars, an Audi A4, a Ford Focus and a Ford Fiesta, had collided, forcing the road to be closed.

A Suffolk police spokesman said one motorist was treated by ambulance crews for minor injuries.

The spokesman also confirmed a man, the driver of the Audi, had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was taken into custody, where he remains.

The road was reopened by 10am.
