CRISP lover and former England football star Gary Lineker would have been in his element at north Suffolk car showroom.

Because more than 1,000 packets of ready-salted crisps were being given away following the end of a Ford car and Walkers crisps joint promotion to guess how many packets could fit into a Ford Focus car.

Nevertheless, John Barker, sales manager at Ford Hammond in Halesworth decided to donate them all to The Children's Society to sell from their charity shops in Halesworth and Beccles.

Sheryll Sayer, manager of the charity's shop in Beccles, coincidentally used to stock crisps in a supermarket before joining the charity.

She said: "I think it's brilliant. We always need to raise as much money as we can through the shop."
