The Blues go to Old Trafford tonight in the third round of the Capital One Cup, the same evening the long-running soap broadcasts a live episode to celebrate the 60th anniversary of channel ITV.

With the studio less than a mile from Old Trafford, various national newspapers are reporting soap insiders to be concerned that crowd noise from the match could be picked up on the broadcast, especially if the home side score.

However, a spokeswoman for Corrie told the Daily Star: “There have been matches on many times when we have been filming over the two years we have been here.

“Noise from Old Trafford has never been an issue before.”
