IPSWICH Witches Supporters' Club held their annual end-of-season dinner/dance on Saturday evening at the St Elizabeth Hotel, in Copdock.
And the Witches fans voted Danny King their rider of the year - the England international having enjoyed a solid and progressive 2009, culminating taking over the Witches captaincy midway through the campaign.
Chris Louis thanked all the fans, riders and helpers for continuing to give the Witches that special “family-club” feeling. And he looked forward to the Suffolk team racing in the Elite League again in 2010.
He also thanked the supporters' club for not only organising the evening, but being by far the best supporters' club in the country, something acknowledged by most clubs in the sport.
On a glittering night, the only disappointment for the fans was the unavailability of Tobi Kroner (who was supporting his fellow speedway rider and good friend Snke Petersen, who was paralysed in a crash earlier this season, at a meeting in Germany), and Scott Nicholls who was suffering from flu.
A letter was read out from Scott, where in it he admitted his time back with Ipswich had been the best time of 2009, and he looked forward
to seeing everyone at Foxhall in 2010.
Ipswich promoter John Louis received a special 40-year award, the Ipswich speedway legend celebrating 40 years in the sport, while there were numerous other awards, games, dancing and fun.
