The body of an elderly man washed up on the beach at Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, on Saturday morning.
Essex Police and the coastguard were alerted at 8am today, after a member of the public discovered the body.
The police are not treating the incident as suspicious and the man, described as over 60 in appearance, is yet to be identified.
A file will be prepared by police for the coroner, an Essex Police spokesman confirmed.
