Staff at Vauxhall dealer Marshall of Ipswich are excited to be cheering on site manager Adam Roe in the sixth annual May Ride hosted by Bobby on a Bike.

The four-day expedition later this month will follow a challenging route, from Aldeburgh to Borth on the mid-coast of Wales, pushing the cycle team to the limits in an effort to raise money for the national Armed Forces charity SSAFA.

The SSAFA is a charity dedicated to providing practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who is serving or has ever served in the Forces as well as their families.

Adam will be one of 68 riders trying to cover nearly 400 miles in four days this year in what is a progressively demanding route testing endurance, willpower and emotional strength.

Marshall of Ipswich will also be providing vehicle support during the event, transporting the drinking water for all the inspirational cyclists taking part in the rigorous ride.

Adam said: “At Marshall of Ipswich we are committed to supporting local charities and it gives us great pleasure to support this fantastic event for the first time and do our bit towards raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

“I am delighted to also be personally involved in the cycle ride and have been training hard for the event.”

Bobby on a Bike, which gets its name from its founder Neil Smith – a policeman and ex-Forces officer with a passion for fund-raising, hosts a number of cycling events throughout the year across the globe which support a range of charities.

Neil said: “I would like to thank Marshall of Ipswich for their support for this year’s May Ride. Providing the two support vehicles will make the operation much more efficient and will facilitate waterstops throughout the day. Their contribution is very much appreciated.

“This is a particularly challenging ride, certainly not for the faint-hearted and I would like to wish Adam the best of luck taking part for the first time.”
