The death of a Colchester teenager who was hit by a car as he crossed the road on his bike was an accident, an inquest has heard.

Jayson Gibson, 15, died at the scene of the collision on the A133 at Clingoe Hill, in Colchester, at 12.05pm on February 4.

A post mortem report later revealed that Mr Gibson had died from fatal injuries.

The inquest was held earlier this week, with the conclusion passed by coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray.

Mr Gibson had been a pupil at Colchester Academy, in Hawthorn Avenue.

Following the news of his death, headteacher Fiona Pierson said: “Jayson Gibson was a kind-hearted, honest and hardworking student at Colchester Academy, always smartly presented, he was a mature and conscientious young man.”
