TRAFFIC congestion has eased along a stretch of the A14 after a fatal road crash closed both lanes of a carriageway.

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the A14 when a car, believed to be travelling the wrong way, struck a lorry head-on.

The lorry driver suffered only minor injuries in the collision.

The accident happened at the junction with the B1049 Histon Interchange, near Cambridge, at 6.07am this morning.

The main carriageway at the junction was closed and westbound traffic was diverted via the slip roads.

The A14 was re-opened at about 1pm but delays continued into the afternoon.
