Police are appealing for anyone who witnesses to accident to call 101
An accident which saw a car overturn on the carriageway blocked a stretch of the A12 northbound near Kelvedon this morning, causing substantial delays to motorists.
The accident occurred between junctions 23 (Kelvedon south) and 24 (Kelvedon north) and involved a Smart Car, a Ford Fiesta and a BMW.
It is thought that any injuries suffered were minor.
The carriageway has now been cleared, but congestion remains in the area.
The incident is also causing delays on the southbound carriageway as drivers slow when passing the crash.
