Police have released a description of a man they want to speak to in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in Ipswich.

The incident happened between 10-10.10pm at Sherrington Road Park on Wednesday.

The teenager encountered the suspect at about 9.35pm at steps leading down to the car park at the back of Farm Foods, off Little Bramford Lane. After speaking to him for about five minutes, he grabbed the girl’s sleeve and led her to Sherrington Road, walking along Chevalier Street and Norwich Road on the way.

The suspect had a tanned complexion, was in his 30s, about 5ft 4ins, of a large build, with short dark spikey hair and stubble.

He had a foreign accent and wore a black short-sleeved shirt with a white pattern, camouflage style knee-length shorts, and black flip-flops with white writing on.

He also said his name was Alan.
