A disability charity has paid tribute to its unsung heroes with a special tea party to coincide with National Volunteers Week.

Volunteers who support Papworth Trust’s work through the West Suffolk Disability Resource Centre in Bury St Edmunds have been honoured for their hard work and dedication.

They received certificates and long service awards at the centre in Bunting Road as a way of recognising and thanking them for all their support.

The volunteers recognised were Carole Bland, Lorrie Finley, Charlotte Finley, Rachel Prendergast, Greg Thompson, Neil Aldous, Gerry Walsh and Derek Smith.

Sarah Miller, chief executive of Papworth Trust, said: “This was a fantastic way to pay tribute to our volunteers who give their time, expertise and energy to Papworth Trust.

“Their support is invaluable to us. They do an amazing job - we would not be able to do everything we do without them.”

Anna West, centre and facilities co-ordinator, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to have our invaluable volunteers enjoy a well-deserved afternoon tea as thanks for all the support they give to the centre.”
