A dispersal order giving police the power to instruct people causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area has been authorised for Braintree.
The order began at 10am today and will be in place until midnight.
The order covers Fairfield Road, Market Place, Great Square, High Street and South Street and follows a disturbance after the England v Tunisia match on June 18.
The order has been made under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and gives officers the power to order people causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area.
It is a criminal offence to breach a direction given under the order and in the worst cases this can result in a criminal conviction punishable by up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to £5,000.
Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour is asked to call the Braintree and Uttlesford Community Policing Team on 101.
