POLICE are appealing for information today after an air pistol and cash were stolen in a Felixstowe distraction burglary.

A 66-year-old man answered a knock at his door of his Holland Road home just before 4pm yesterday to a man who said his roof was damaged and needed repair.

The 66-year-old went out to look at the roof with the man and then went back into the property with him to discuss the cost.

They were then briefly joined by a second man. The first man then tried to get the 66-year-old to give him money but he refused and the man was about to leave when the 66-year-old noticed cash had been taken from a container in his front room.

The 66-year-old confronted the first man about the missing money and he left the premises, meeting up with the second man outside. Both men then walked off towards Langer Road.

The 66-year-old then discovered the air pistol was missing too.

The first man is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 7ins, of stocky build, with short light brown hair and was wearing a short sleeve brown top and light coloured trousers.

He spoke with a distinctive accent.

The second man was in his mid 20s and was white with a slightly tanned complexion. He was taller - around 6ft - was of slim build and had dark curly hair.

Anyone with information about the crime should call Felixstowe CID on 01473 613500.
