Dog rescued from ditch

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a dog after it got stuck in a drainage ditch at a popular Suffolk beauty spot.

It happened at Alton Water, near Ipswich, shortly before 3.30pm today.

Firefighters received a call that a dog had slipped into a drainage channel off the main reservoir and was unable to get itself back out.

A crew from Princes Street in Ipswich attended and used a short extension ladder to rescue the dog.

It was reunited with its owner shortly before 4pm.
