A man, woman and dog have had a lucky escape as they were rescued from being stuck in the mudflats at East Mersea.
Thames Coastguard received a call at 3.35pm and sent Mersea Coastguards along with crews from Essex fire, police and ambulance services to the scene.
A coastguard spokesman said the pair, in their mid-20s, were airlifted to safety by a RAF search and rescue helicopter and were now being looked after by the ambulance service.
