Canine rescue centre appeal to help find homes for furry five
Canine Welfare Rescue Centre
A five-year-old Rottweiler cross – looking for a home for almost half his life – is among dogs hoping to be rehoused at a Suffolk rescue centre.
A “big boy with bags of personality”, Benson has been the guest of the Canine Welfare Rescue Centre, in Glevering, near Wickham Market, for the last two years.
The self-funded centre has been taking in dogs for more than 30 years – carrying out home checks before and after an adoption takes place.
Among the other residents in desperate need of a new home is Honey the Labrador cross – an affectionate seven-year-old looking for a quiet adult home.
BlueBelle is a Staffordshire bull terrier, around four years old, looking for a home with a calm but assertive new owner.
BlueBelle loves other dogs, so would get on well with a companion.
Kara the German shepherd is about eight years old and looking for a new shepherd-savvy owner, to enjoy long walks, river swims and curling up on the sofa.
Oscar the Lhasa Apso is about 10 years old and would love a quiet retirement home to settle into. He gets on well with other dogs and would love a companion.
Emma White, of the Canine Welfare Rescue Centre at Pampered Pets Hotel, said: “We believe that every dog has the perfect home waiting for them.
“Sometimes we don’t always get it right the first time – and sometimes there is a little wait for that home to come along.
“We have been running for more than 30 years and have never put a dog to sleep. Almost all have found their forever homes. Those that didn’t had a home with us for life.
“We are in desperate need of special five-star homes for the dogs featured here, but we are also in desperate need of funds to continue our care and to allow us to take in more dogs in need of rescue.
“We try to work though their issues and find a way to allow them to live happy balanced lives with people who understand them.
“Each one is special and all will need special people, willing to work to improve them gradually.”
