Donald Trump is flying into Stansted Airport in Essex today at the start of his first presidential UK visit since entering the White House.

Mr Trump will touch down for his highly controversial four-day trip which has sparked protests and demonstrations in the capital leaving taxpayers footing a police and security bill of up to £10 million.

Prime Minister Theresa May will host Mr Trump and his wife Melania at a dinner at Blenheim Palace this evening.

After spending the night at the US ambassador’s official residence in Regent’s Park, London, the US president will join the Theresa May at a military base on Friday to view a joint counter-terrorism exercise involving UK and US special forces.

The leaders will then hold talks at the PM’s residence of Chequers.

Russia, Brexit and the Middle East are set to top the agenda.

Mr Trump will then travel to Windsor Castle to meet the Queen before heading to Scotland for the private part of his four-day visit.

He will then travel to Helsinki for a summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Opponents to the controversial US leader have threatened mass protests but Mr Trump is expected to avoid areas such as central London where demonstrators are likely to gather.

Mrs May will be looking to improve her often publicly strained relationship with the US president as she pushes for a post-Brexit trade deal with America.
