Easter eggs have been distributed to school children and those staying at a women’s refuge following a “phenomenal” response to an appeal.

The annual Easter egg appeal, which is jointly organised by the Asda store in Bury St Edmunds and the local Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), saw 389 chocolate eggs donated in just one day.

On Friday 300 of the eggs were delivered to the women’s refuge, Riverwalk School and the Priory School, in Bury, and the next stop will be Scope in Shakers Lane on Sunday.

Michelle Frost, Asda’s community life champion, said: “It was fabulous. Friday was one of those days I will cherish forever. That’s the benefit of my job.

“I get to give to so many people, and the same with the motorbike group. The children absolutely loved the motorbikes as well.”
