A double decker bus has crashed into a ditch in north-east Essex.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the scene in Mersea Road, Colchester, close to the Strood, at 3.40pm.

Paramedics are treating three injured people at the scene. There are thought to be no life-threatening injuries.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are currently at the scene of a collision involving a bus on the Strood between Colchester and Mersea Island.

“The ambulance and fire service are also in attendance and two people are believed to have been injured.”

An East of England Ambulance Service Trust spokesman said that three people injured in the collision have been treated by paramedics.

First Essex tweeted: “*UPDATE* Service 67/67a delays due to accident involving a bus earlier. Mersea Road partially closed. No serious injuries.”
