Major traffic disruption and storm damage is being reported across the region today as gusts of up to 80mph were recorded in Suffolk and north Essex.

Photographs of the chaos have captured fallen trees strewn across main roads and country lanes.

We are bringing you the latest travel updates throughout the day – the Orwell Bridge is now back open but no Greater Anglia trains are running in either direction on the main line.

Thousands of homes have been left without power this morning and several schools in Suffolk have closed.
